An air blow nozzle is a cylindrical device or apparatus with a narrowed air outlet to blow air onto an object with great force.
In order to enhance the blowing effect, many nozzles are structurally designed to provide the object with not only the discharged air but also the air around the nozzle by reducing the resistance of the surrounding air, which is drawn by the vigorous air coming out of the discharge port.
By providing an efficient air blow to the object, equipment such as compressors can be downsized to increase the energy saving rate.
The following is a description of the uses and main functions of air blow nozzles.
Air blow nozzles are used to cool an object by applying air to it.
Air blow nozzles are used in lines where plastic products come out after molding in resin processing plants, in conveyor lines for processed products in foundry processing plants, in production lines in paper mills, and in the production lines of food processing plants.
In food factories, they are installed in lines where rapid cooling is required, such as lines where deep-fried foods and snacks are heated.
Air jets are used to move electronic parts in electronics manufacturing plants, powders in pharmaceutical plants, and foreign objects in food factories to other lines by utilizing the impact force that air exerts on the object.
The air jet effect, which engulfs the surrounding air, is used to remove indoor air in high-temperature environments, organic solvents, and foul odors.
Other uses include efficiently drying the inside of bottles, cans, boxes, tanks, etc., by passing hot air through air blow nozzles to dry the object by applying an air current to the object.
The following describes the principle and features of air blow nozzles.
Air blow nozzles consist of a cylindrical tube with an orifice plate with holes inside as a mechanism for squeezing air.
When compressed air is passed through air blow nozzles with an orifice diameter smaller than the pipe diameter, the flow velocity increases instead of decreasing the pressure at the outlet.
This principle is based on the following equation: the average flow velocity is v, the flow rate is Q, and the orifice diameter is A. If the upstream pump side is point 1 and the downstream outlet side is point 2, the equation Q=A1v1=A2v2 is derived from the continuity equation, mass conservation law, and Bernoulli's theorem, and the air downstream passing through the orifice plate is at a higher speed and lower pressure than the air upstream. The downstream air passing through the orifice plate is at a higher velocity and lower pressure than the upstream air.
If compressed air is supplied from upstream so that the air downstream is below the external pressure, the surrounding air can be taken in.
By incorporating a structure that supplies air from the outside into this low-pressure area, striking force due to airflow can be efficiently applied to the object.
Note that the above equation does not take into account the compressibility or viscosity of the air.
