What Are Float Ball Valves?

Principle of Float Ball Valves
Float ball valves, as the name implies, have a large ball that floats on the surface of the water at all times.
The buoyancy automatically changes the flow path of water inside the float ball valves, so that when the ball is lowered, water flows out at a high rate, and when the float ball valve is refilled and the ball tap is raised, the amount of water flowing out gradually decreases until it eventually shuts off completely.
Because of this simple structure, float ball valves are very often unnoticed and used for years after installation. However, they are not suited for strict control of water volume, as they operate according to the surface of the water. It can only be used to maintain the water surface above a certain level.
Another feature is that they are often used for long periods of time without being maintained, resulting in slight water leakage that goes unnoticed for many years.
Although some manufacturers can replace parts, the quality of water used for cooling water is not that good, and in severe cases, the water may be heavily contaminated with silica, algae, slime, etc. In such cases, it may be better to replace the entire unit.
