What Is a Leveling Mount?
A leveling mount is a mechanical component used to adjust the height or maintain the level of machinery or other equipment.
They are variously called leveling pads, adjuster bolts, or simply adjusters.
When portability is required, there are also adjuster feet with casters. They use the casters when moving the adjuster and use the leveling mount to float the casters when securing the adjuster.
There are also leveling mounts with non-slip or anti-vibration rubber on the bottom.
Uses of Leveling Mounts
Leveling mounts are used not only in industrial machinery, such as machine tools, packaging machinery, food processing machinery, factory automation equipment, robot systems, and conveyor systems (conveyors). They are also in a variety of other devices and equipment, including office desks, copy machines, work tables, and other OA equipment. A wide range of series is available, from lightweight to medium-lightweight and heavyweight types, and should be selected according to the load capacity.
When equipment needs to be level, such as precision instruments and processing machines, the angle-adjustable leveling mounts are used to allow horizontal installation even if the floor surface is slightly tilted. Conversely, if the equipment must be tilted slightly, angle-adjustable leveling mounts are also used.
Principle of Leveling Mounts
Leveling mounts consist of a base that touches the floor, a bolt to adjust the height, and a nut for a double nut to fix the position after adjustment. They are usually divided into heavy-weight and medium-light-weight versions, which must be selected according to the weight of the equipment. Load capacity is sometimes measured in units of dN (1 dN = 1 kgf) as well as N.
The height of the device can be adjusted by turning a nut welded to the base and moving the bolt up or down. When the adjustment is complete, another nut is fastened to the side of the device, and the bolt is secured in place by a double nut mechanism.
The height of the leveling mounts is adjusted with a wrench, but if the wrench is difficult to insert or turn, level adjustment and maintenance will be difficult. In such situations, there are leveling mounts that have a mortise where a flathead screwdriver can be inserted at the tip of the bolt. In this case, the adjustment is made from the top with a flathead screwdriver, and the wrench is used only for the final fixing, which improves workability.
